Developers Chat 18 march - Logs
Ghouti, Yesterday at 3:07 AM.

Yesterday night (after midnight for the European gang) there was a developers chat in which questions were asked to the developers. Here's the Dev Chat Logs.
No real interesting questions got asked (although that opinion might differ for everyone). Here's a answers:

------------------------------
Many folks are confused by Brenlo's statement that it is planned to "move away from" Qeynos and Freeport as starting cities. Could you please expand on that?
  • Brenlo: Well when I said that, I had been drinking . . . Seriously though, we plan to only allow new characters to start in the newer player areas. Timorous, Greater Fay, Darklight and Soon Halas. THe new player experience in Qeynos and Freeport are

In the area of class balance, would you guys consider having the first Game Update AFTER an expansion focus on many of the new and un-finished concerns that players have with class balance? Especially those that arise DURING the expansion that were not really as big an issue during beta?

  • Xelgad: We don't want to focus on just one update right after the expansion as the team wants to move away from bulk adjustments once per year. We intend to make class balance adjustments with every game update as they are warrented. The first update following an expansion launch will be no exception, and is definitely likely to see such adjustments. In short - yes, you should be seeing class balance adjustments with the Game Update following an expansion

Can we have some heirloom type way to have Lore items be tradable to alts as well as other players? Or even a trade-able Lore-equipped tag like the Heirloom Lore-Equipped tag.

  • Rothgar: My head hurts just trying to understand that question!
  • Rothgar: If I understand correctly you want more items to be tradable to alts which is already do-able with the tags we have. Perhaps we can re-evaluate some of the item tags in the future to see if more items can be made tradable. This is something we'd have to discuss though. If I don't understand the question correctly, just PM me a clarification on the forums. :) Perhaps give a few item examples and we can take a look at it.

Any thoughts of top-end craftable gear to compete with top-end Legendary or low end Fabled loot? And don't say Mark of Manaar gear, that doesn't count.

  • Frizznik: We do have thoughts on this, we were just talking about a few things in our mechanics meeting a few hours ago about it. I don't want to make any promises about what it will be exactly right now, but I bet you see a bump in mastercrafted stuff as soon as we can get to it.

Is there a chance the Research Assistant's will lose the one character at a time restriction? The current implementation runs counter to the trend of making the game more and more accesible to alts and it looks like the world ended as much as it could with the initial introduction of RA's. As now, the restiction unfairly impacts people who have multiple characters on a server and would be best changed to keep with the idea of alt support.

  • Rothgar: Yes.
  • Brenlo: There is always a chance
  • Frizznik: You fought with me to answer that one, and your answer is "Yes." ?
  • Olihin: Si
  • Rothgar: Originally this was meant as an account-based reward for keeping your account subscribed. The idea was that everyone should receive the same benefit, like a once-per-account vet reward.
  • Kiara: pft. I was gonna say no. You're no fun, Rothgar.
  • Rothgar: But at this point we can certainly see that using it on multiple characters would just be more fun and wouldn't really break anything, so those changes are underway as we speak.
  • Rothgar: lol @ Frizznik
  • Frizznik: I would add that also, right at this second in fact, I am evaluating the time spent to research at lower levels and decreasing it.

Oh and something different, there was another hotfix (seems like theres a hotfix every few days rather then every week lol). Here's the  Hotfix Notes.

Hotfix 16 March
Ghouti, Mar 17, 10 2:34 AM.

Here's the list of updates in the latest hotfix:

GENERAL
- Most of the guards in Freeport, Qeynos and Kelethin have had their levels reduced to what they had previously. Exceptions to this include palace guards and patrolling knights.

ITEMS
- All jewelry from the Vigilant: Final Destruction (x2) has had resists added.
- Summoning the mount from the Ykeshan Warbear whistle will now work if you are level 80 in either adventuring or tradeskilling.
- The valuable, Onayan staff of the waves, should now be on the Vasty Deep collection tables.

QUESTS
- The Footsteps of Dartain: Observation – The projected erudite will no longer disappear during conversation.
- In Search of Lucan – Fyr’remd Lorak should no longer disappear during conversation.
- “Confronting the Godslayer” requires the raid lichform version of Perah’Celsis in order to update. The prose is now more specific about this.
- Delinah now properly updates “The Footsteps of Dartain: Emergence.”
- Players who delete or decline the various “Footsteps of Dartain” signature quests can now re-obtain them.
- Stage 3 of “Whispers from the Past” now correctly mentions Silent City instead of Living Tombs.

PALACE OF ROEHN THEER
- Kendis and Penda United now have lower maximum health.
- The 3 sages in challenge mode now synchronize their use of prismatic sphere with their exchange of stones (tank switching).

SUNDERED FRONTIER
- Neophyte Sairal in the Hall of Necromancy seeks adventurers 80 and higher for a special task.

VASTY DEEP: THE ABANDONED LABS
- Adds on the Kadara’Mola fight in Vasty Deep: The Abandoned Labs should now de-spawn should she reset or the encounter breaks.

As you might have noticed one of them is about adding resist to high lvl jewelry. One of the issues noted with the expansion is that compared to lvl 70-80 gear there is almost no resist on them dropping your resist bigtime making it very painfull to go against spellcasters. Well they are busy fixing those, mostly by adding resist to some high end gear, but also introducing yellow adornments (between white (on all items) and red (high end raid gear)). However we're still gonna have to wait for those (you can already check out those yellow adornments in paineel btw. For those who want to know more about the changes coming:

Epic Repercussions
Ghouti, Mar 9, 10 5:38 AM.

A very interesting topic for everyone who's lvl 80 and going towards 90 or is lvl 90 already. Except for people that might have started to play Everquest II recently, everyone should know about their Fabled and Mythical class weapon.

For those that don't here's a quick summary, at lvl 80 you can start a questline specific for your class which ultimately gives you a badass weapon, a weapon until the last expansion that wasn't surpased by anything. Hence for groups, raiding etc having your fabled and even mythical weapon quickly becomes mandatory.
Now the difference is quite simple, fabled weapon is accomplished first, a long and hard quest mind you in which you will often need a strong group to get your updates but everything can be reached groupwise. For your mythical however you will need to kill several epic's so that's raiding. For our guild a few might have their mythical (i can remember 2 i think lol) and several members with their Fabled and a lot more in the progress of getting it.

Interested in knowing your fabled / mythical and what is required:
Epics

Here's the thread in our forum where you can post your progress / what step you are on so that it's easier to help you reach your goal:
Epic progress thread

Ok now that's the difference and how we used to get them. Things have changed a bit due to the expansion. Getting our fabled should be getting easier as we can reach higher levels then 80 now (some mobs you need to kill are 86^^^ for example). However the reason for me to post this is to make clear what has changed with the expansion.

Fabled and Mythical weapons are no longer the top weapon around, in damage they can get surpassed. However that is not what makes them so great, all the mythical weapons (and in part fabled) have a great effect on them which makes them very very valuable. Now better weapons means you lose that ability and that is a price that people dont want to pay. Thus was born the quest "epic repercussions" in which we can convert the mythical effect to a spell which we can cast. How usefull is that ? well very ... very usefull

Why ... well as said before we have very few mythicals ... much more fabled as we don't raid ... and now ... it doesnt matter anymore ... how's that you ask. Well the reward from the quest is exactly the same if you have your fabled or your mythical !!!! Both result in the mythical effect !!!

Again do note you do need to have your fabled at least, but no need to get your mythical first, you can still get it but only if you want the xp for the rest it doesnt matter anymore. So everyone is happy :D

Ok here's the quest walkthrough starting with "Fiery Jewel of the Underfoot":
Fiery Jewel of the Underfoot
Epic Repercussions

Requirements are lvl 85 (to be able to enter an instance ... which is very hard so it will most likely mean for us lvl 90), and being able to speak Draconic !!!! Which means we all have to do our favorite walkalot quest "to speak as a dragon". You might actually need it for your fabled weapon and other quests but for certain you need it now.

Here's a reminder of the quest:
To Speak as a Dragon

Ok hope everyone is informed. For everyone still lower then 80, there isn't much you can do usually yet, try to do the quest "Speak as a dragon". You usually also need some faction, but that faction is always in RoK which means lvl 70+.

ps i double checked to be certain on the forum and again everyone posts the reward from the quest is the same for fabled and mythical !!
